I'M DONE
Wow… congratulations, EA. You’ve finally done it — you’ve managed to burn out someone who’s been playing The Sims since they were 17. I’m in my 40s now, have spent thousands of dollars on this franch...
I too am frustrated with EA - been playing since House Party came out and been all over every add-on, every expansion, every version.
My break point was more the just EA's incompetence when it comes to their fans - they pretend to want feedback but they go and do stupid stuff that isn't what we told them we wanted. I agree with you on every pack being fluff - though you're being too generous. They come out with something (as I have cited before) and it screws up an essential part of gameplay. They've ruined infants, toddlers, weddings, and romance by trying to overthink it and create inane gimmicks - and when they don't work, EA just shrugs continues to churn out more garbage.
What made me put The Sims 4 down are the forced events. Just because some idiot at EA with thin skin thinks that they have a great idea to force players to enjoy the game the way the idiot does - is not a good way to keep long time players engaged. To add insult to injury, the 'prizes' for these events are either reskinned crap that nobody wanted to begin with or new pathetic junk that nobody wants anyways. I keep saying, if they give something away for free, it has no value. Now add on EA extending these events beyond their announced endpoint...kind a reminds me of a TACO situation. If they have to extend the event so people can get their rewards, maybe they don't want the rewards to begin with - I have never seen one reward offered in all the events they forced that made me think, "That might be worth getting." Because they aren't. Period.
But I applaud your decision to rip the EA bandage off and uninstall the game entirely. I'm almost to that point myself and I have also been playing inZoi during the latest events and I'm enjoying it. The graphics are much better even for a game in Beta. I love that they listen to their players and that they are releasing a new world in about a week - free. Yep, bought the game, they are adding a whole new world, and they aren't charging me another $50 to add that world to the game. Plus I can make my own furniture, even change the materials - and not just using a handful of swatches - but change the wood grain, the color...you know...like we used to in previous versions of The Sims where you could make a matching bedroom set and assign marble tops to the nightstands and dressers.
The Sims 4 and EA are in serious trouble if they don't start stepping up their game - and even if they do, I don't expect to be around to notice.
