"Skyla turned in her homework confidently that class {the one she just attended} and squeezed every bit of knowledge she could out of it. That kind of effort will surely be a great help to her final grade in the course."
Whether or not it reads as smoothly or succinctly as one would like is, as always in English, up for debate.
PS I have a terminal degree in creative writing, for what it's worth.
