Knitting Vs Cross Stitching UI

I like how I can place a cross sticking box in a room and sims can just stich for fun when they like. It also means I do not need to purchase multiple stich boxes per sims to enable the hobby. Some of my sims just do it and they love it. I don't que the action and they master it all on their own.

This is not the case with knitting, which admittedly is a kit that released released before Country Lifestyle. However, I feel that the UI that comes with the cross stitching is much better than what came with Nifty Knitting. I do not like that I have to put the knitting kit in my sims inventory for them to be able to use the item. This means that I need multiple kits per sim and sims cannot just pick up the hobby unless the item is in their inventory. And some sims with the kit in their inventory will not use it so that is a waste of Simoleans. Also, some sim sims end up hating knitting so that is obviously a waste of Simoleans.

Can you please change the UI to the same as the cross stitching in that we can place a knitting bag/box in a room and sims can just pick up the hobby (or we can click on the object and have the sim do the action), in addition to having it be available in the inventory for certain sims only (for those who don't want the whole house to be involved in the crafts).

Not sure if this is just me though but I think it would make sense for game play summitry 🙂

  • @ValFreya13 , you make some very good points, some of which I have thought of myself and some I never thought of!😊  I do prefer that cross-stitching UI is better than knitting because I also love how the item can be placed in the house to use and you don't have to have multiple of the same item for multiple sims to enjoy it!  But it didn't occur to me that the reason that cross-stitchers in the game autonomously start stitching and knitters didn't autonomously start knitting was due to the cross-stitchers having the item in their homes and not in their personal inventory!
So I agree with you and pressed the "Me too" button because I would love for this to be changed! 🤞

I agree! I like how with cross-stitching you can choose whether you want everyone on the lot to be able to use it or only a specific sim (by putting it in their inventory). With knitting, unplayed sims will never be able to knit, which also means that you can’t make, say, a knitting club with NPCs in which everyone actually knits.

@lucombre Excellent point about not being able to make a Knitting Club! 🥰  In real life I'm a member of a Knitting and Crocheting Club at my local library, so it is a shame that we can't have that in the game! 😢
