Need way to opt out of real time events

This, so much this.  There's no reason we should be forced to stare at an icon on screen we don't want that constantly lets us know that we are or aren't participating in something. These "events" are nothing more than loot boxes with tasks and feels like it's just a way to artificially increase the number of players per week. 

The last event was a buggy mess and took up time the developers could have used to fix and patch actual game play bugs and instead had to work on trying to figure out and patch the event bugs.  It's just dumb. Stop it. 

I would be happy if there was a way to close the event UI, even if it was each time I played. Because I agree, it was fine when I thought the little Grim was only taking up space for a few weeks, but if this is to be a semi-permanent fixture, well, that's just annoying. The cart still remains, taking up space, now this?

And actual wanted gameplay features are further condensed (looking at you, soul's journey, stacked on top of aspirations...).

These reward events heavily ruin the game experience, if anything. Also the fact that we can't opt out of these adds a lot of insult to injury.

I definitely feel The Sims 4 has gone incredibly downhill a lot this year and I don't think it's gonna get any better. It's such a bloated mess anymore and it really make me feel discouraged and drained. If EA is really trying to improve The Sims 4, they are doing it horribly wrong. Reward events do not help matters and only make the game experience worse. 💔

@hrjgamesGotta try to run the game while offline, maybe it doesn’t show the icon when it can’t connect? (This kind of Ui clutter annoys me to no end too. I’m gonna try it next time I play.)

It’s a bummer for Simmers who heavily use the Gallery, though.

I agree with this 1000%.   There should be a choice whether a player is opting in to or out of login/reward events like Reaper Rewards, Cozy Celebrations, etc.

Personally, even with the irritation of all the bugs, I liked the Reaper Rewards.  However, I want nothing to do with Cozy Celebrations at all.  I'd like to play during the event time without pop-ups or the banners in live mode or any of the weird stuff that comes with it.

I think it's only fair to have a toggle or a choice box or something to say I do not want to participate in this event (and it can be reversible even for ultimate fairness if someone changes their mind) so that even if my game is now going to be buggy as a termite mound while it's ongoing at least I can play in somewhat a bit more peace.  I think it's only fair, given this is not something I purchased or indicated I wanted to opt-in to, versus all the DLC I have purchased and opted-in to on the other hand over the years with the Sims 4.

These events shouldn't be happening at all (I already left feedback on this at the new forums), but if they're going to happen anyway, they NEED an opt-out.

Personally, I kinda think this might make players change to a different life simulation game if they keep doing these 'broken reward events you can't opt out of' extremely often, because it's was only 2 weeks after the Reaper Reward Event that they decided to do another one.

First of all, the entire point of The Sims is it's meant to be a life simulator, where you do whatever you want at your own desire, but EA has turned it into a battle pass that takes away the whole point of this game. In other words, the reward events defeat the entire purpose as to what The Sims 4 is supposed to be. I never agreed to do these reward events that don't work. It was never the reason I got into The Sims 4. I'm using The Sims 4 for my own purposes, but these reward events do nothing except be a huge annoyance to many Simmers. Also not to mention that I'm one of those Simmers who PAID for this game, so getting me to do these reward events is completely unacceptable. I just want to enjoy The Sims 4 as is, but EA keeps bloating it and bloating it as the months go by. I'm really trying my best with my projects and also trying my best to not let these rewards events conflict with my Sims 4 Sessions.

While I do like a lot of what they are offering with the current Cozy Celebrations event, I am not one who is into playing the occult or more so, having to deal with death as that is a very sensitive topic for me. And to have sims puking at the sight of a dead body to me is going waaaay too far into the morbid. I, like many players here, have enough real-life hardships to contend with and desire a fun and pleasant escape... EA is making it much harder to do so.

With so many players with varied backgrounds and life experiences, I know it is not always easy to find the meeting of the minds when it comes to content to include in these games. What works for some may go against another's rights or reasons. I feel that these things should not be forced on any player, much more these events.

While I do love getting freebees for the game, I feel some things we should have a choice. After all, it is our gaming experience.  While some too I feel is best to be contained within the DL that EA is promoting...more so when it comes to occult, death, etc. or at least give us way to opt out of them.

What really upset a lot of players is the more that players complained of the last event with the grim reaper, EA purposefully and disrespectfully created a full screen ad to throw in our faces in promoting the remaining weeks of that event. That I found was the last straw for me and I dropped out of playing and deleting my game off my computer, after having paid close to a thousand dollars for all the DL I have. That is just not right under any circumstance!

If events are to continue, it needs to be done in a way players can opt in or out and not be bombarded with ads or promptings for us to play them when all we want to do is play our games in peace.

What would be even better still is to have the option to opt out of each free sets of add-ons being offered. For instance... I loved the nursery add-ons and the baby addition to the base game, but not everyone was thrilled with this. Others were happy with the updates regarding death while some of us found it was too morbid. Others love the festive holiday stuff that is freely being offered, but others don't really want them. So why not give us a chance to see what is being offered and say yes or no to them before forcing these into our games?

If EA really wanted to, they could easily find a work around for this...

I agree. I just turned on the game today for the first time in forever because I can't really play until they fix three critical eye issues, but there should be a way to opt out of them. I understand, it gives people something t work towards and such, and it's a neat idea. However, for people who are not interested in that and just want to use the game to tell a story such as my self, it's quite bothersome and annoying. It just keeps popping up and breaking the immersion of the game. Please add option to hide the UI portion of the event. This is something that shouldn't be forced on someone.
