Likes and dislikes need a big overhaul.

Currently it just feels like one of countless features that was added to sims 4 and instantly abandoned. On paper it sounds really great, but if it only provides a positive or negative moodlet but won't affect behaviour, what's the point?

So what I suggest is the following:

If sims dislike something, they will never do it unless you tell them to. They will also refuse to do it if other sims ask them to join in it, unless they have a really good relationship or they have traits that would make them do it. Though some traits could make them refuse no matter how good the relationship is.

If they dislike music, they will automatically change it to music they like when entering the room, or will turn it off if they don't like any music. Traits could play a small role in it too. A hotheaded sim could get angry and break the stereo instead to make it stop, but a generous or otherwise more kind sim might leave the music on despite their dislike.

If they dislike cooking they will only ever make quick meals, might get the desire to order food more often too. Won't automatically help sims who are cooking either.

If sims like something however, they will prioritise doing that when they can, tending to their needs aside. Which could allow them to develop skills on their own instead of needing to be told if they like the activity. They could also get the want to do these things they like.

Colours and decor styles can stay as meaningless as they are though, I don't see how that could be made of any use.

However I would like to see food added as a new category. With so many meals in the game, it would be nice to give our sims preferences there. Foods they like they could make on their own more often unless they dislike cooking, and foods they dislike they won't make on their own and will dislike too if made to eat that. For vegetarians everything with meat could automatically be locked in disliked. Eating food sims like could also make them a little happier.

Traits could play a part in this too, like a glutton could not be able to dislike food unless a vegetarian, then it's just the locked meat meals. But a high maintenance sim could often enough but not always get displeased with any food they don't actively like, and eating disliked food could affect both them and foodies more than other sims.
