Lock screen on sims in TAB mode

Hello everyone,

I'm writting here because I didn't see any discussion about this yet (or maybe I didn't look hard enough). I wanted to know, what do you think about locking camera on sims while being in TAB mode?

I like the first person camera and the normal TAB mode but sometimes, I just want to follow my sim without the UI and not from their point of view. For example, when I want to just watch them go everywhere: jogging, hiking, snowboarding, skiing, promenades on a horse, when they ride a bike. It's always a beautiful scenery but the UI doesn't allow that immersion to the cozyness of these activities.

I don't know, maybe I'm the only one wishing for this, what do you think?

PS: I'm refereing to the TAB mode/free camera mode where we're still in a third person view but without the UI (not 1st person camera). This camera option doesn't have the possibility to individually follow a sim everywhere.

J'aurais vraiment aimé qu'on puisse le faire pour au moins profiter des cènes de promenades ou de vélo (ou des choses dans ce genre) sans l'interface utilisateur...c'est dommage qu'on ait rien là dessus

  • What you describe would not be 1st person view. It seems that you want free camera mode which you find in camera controls.

Yes I'm talking about free camera mode but it's exactly why I'm proposing this idea cause free camera mode/TAB mode doesn't have the "lock camera" on sims. You know when you right clic on a sim and the camera follows them anywhere? I want that but in TAB mode/free camera mode.

  • I hardly used the 1st person view camera. It's nifty for some video making though, for special effects.  It can be fun during a gaming session too. but it mostly makes me dizzy. Recalling once I used it from an infant's (or was it toddler?) POW. That was quite interesting (and disturbing) as the kid cried and the parents were busy with other activities in the same room, important stuff like computer gaming and such ;)

I don't use 1st person camera either, I don't really like the effect of it. But I use the TAB mode a lot, cause I like watching my sims, and the scenery without the UI.

But now I wonder with your reply if I expressed myself right cause when I say TAB mode, it's completely different from 1st person camera...Is it because I mentionned 1st person camera so people think I'm talking about that?

Yes, it was 1st person that made me think of that feature. But mainly my fault, because it's been so long since I used that feature that I wouldn't know whether TAB was involved or not :)

I too like to watch my sims in the free camera TAB  mode, mainly to get rid of UI. I always use that mode when taking screenshots because it's easier to fine tune, but also when decorating a room seeing the result with walls up - and again, navigation gets easier in TAB mode.
