Midlife crisis frequency

It seems most of my sims seem to get the midlife crisis and it's too frequent. The first time it was interesting but it is now becoming a chore. 

I typically play with legacy saves so my main focus is always the heir, and the spouse that seems to be played with less consistently end up in a bad mood because of this. Turning down the frequency would be great. I also think that this has impacted romantic relationships. Within a few days of meeting I get the threat of break up if im mean to them because they aren't happy.
