Money is too easy to get and ruins gameplay

Money is one of the biggest drivers of gameplay: you can then do other activities besides your job to get money and so on.

As it's designed now, no matter what you do, you become in effect a "millionaire" no matter what and can buy anything and the most expensive lots.  Even almost any hobby you can get rich off of.

It's a lost opportunity to inject some great gameplay in the Sims 4.

There needs to be a "difficulty" setting with many levels to pick from for money that will raise/lower how much money you make on each transaction that you GET money and do the opposite on how much you have to spend to get something, and let the player pick a setting that makes the game more engaging.

So for example, one setting would cut the money you receive from anything in half, while doubling how much money you need to spend on anything you normally spend money on. And various levels between.

That said: is there a mod that does this "percent" sort of thing with money?

As it is now I have to manually change how much money I gain/lose every time I gain/lose it using the "money" command and changing the total money have - would be more fun if the game just did it for you.

  • This was one of the reasons I suggested a Charitable Giving gameplay pack / system to be made available. If there were other ways for sims to give away their money, there could be other motivators besides just earning more and buying more. I suggested ideas like being able to sponsor community lots by giving to those 'charities' and then seeing improvements in the lots, sort of like how Eco Lifestyle works. I assume that something of this nature would be more of a gameplay solution, and possibly more of a player motivator, than just decreasing how much money you can earn from something. Plus, it would allow gameplay itself to change the game world in a positive way.
