I really don't understand, why not have a "draw distance" setting? I used to play Second Life every single day, and if you were on a low end PC or a laptop and you were experiencing lag you could set your draw distance very low, meaning it would not render more than x-amount of distance until you moved your avatar closer to those "un-rendered" areas and then it would render the trees, houses, buildings, etc. If you were on a higher end PC you could, if you chose, set your draw distance to a higher setting to see more of the world around you. Makes no sense to me, seriously. TS4 acts like it is this huge game when there are so many more games out there that is much more taxing on your PC.
sims used to play like this, I can't remember if it was sims 1 or 2 or maybe 3 or all of them, my memory isnt very good. but you had the option of the distance you could see clearly from your home, and the option for the clarity of you sims and objects. example, sims could have fingers or club hands. the clearer and further you could see the more the game/comp used. and it could slow down your game if you didn't have enough ram or something.
personally for sims 4. I think I have a good computer. maybe not the best but not the worst either. i do know that if I go up to 3 floors high in a house, my game can lag and glitch. it plays better in bungalows with a roof garden. I would like the option to play some of the empty facade houses, especially the terrace houses. imagine sim families living so close together that they share a wall. Houses in real life that I have lived in many times. I personally think we have enough lots. I would prefer more lots and less neighborhoods.
