How low end/old are these computers they expect to run TS4? I thought jumping to 64 bit meant less shells, not more.
The 64bit upgrade was the biggest joke ever. 32bit apps are limited to 4GB of ram, 64bits are not. All the jump did was allow them to not meet their target specs (<4GB) and ship it out anyway. It just means less work for them. Now they don’t fret about 4GB of ram, but they still have a junk game engine that’s buckling under 30DLCs and a lot of sloppy code so they’re going to continue to be very conservative in what they do. This is why we see a ton of recycled content because it already works, and something new might not workout as quickly or as easily. They made it clear from the beginning they opt to do what is easiest, and cheapest for them regardless of how that impacts the quality of their game.
I agree with you and Imo I feel that the game would need to be torn down and rebuilt from scratch to fully take advantage of 64 bit, sore some things may work well and on the other hand some may not. I felt just because they went 64 bit does not necessarily mean there will be mouth watering features coming to Sims 4. For me it is still the same Sims 4 it has always been.
Yeah, I have not seen any difference at all when they switched to 64-bit, and it looks like they are going to keep going with this game for several more years.
They upgraded the game to 64bit with the intention of still developing it as if it were a 32bit game and that’s something I would bet hasn’t changed even though they dropped 32bit. For years the game being 64bit gave them a buffer so they could release their packs even if parts were too much for the 32bit game. That’s why a lot of the areas have awful performance on those machines, and why 32b players were advised that the painter and large dogs can cause their games to crash. People throw too much behind the idea of a 64bit game, it doesn’t fix bad game design.
I added more RAM to my computer and my game runs a lot better since. With the 32bit the game would not have benefitted in any way from increased RAM.
32bit can only access 4GB no matter how much you have installed. 64bit does not have this limitation. I’m not sure what you’re trying to tell me.
Exactly this. I now have more than 4 GB RAM which the game can actually use and I can see the difference.
