I happen to have a Sim who owns 3 houses (using the residential rental system) and moves between them. So yes, it can be done. The Expansion Pack was advertised as being able to own multiple houses and have vacation houses.
Owning a Residential Rental and visiting it is not the same as setting it as your household’s residence. You can’t freely switch your primary residence back and forth. That’s the mechanic. EA implemented landlord systems, not multi‑residence autonomy.
UberDrew1, But you can just not rent them out and still own multiple homes. That is allowed by the For Rent pack. There are people like me who do not use packs as intended.
That's not how the system works. Sure you can not rent them out but you can't really live in it as a second home lmao. You guys are confused about the mechanics of the game system.
You can literally build a house on Mt. Komorebi’s summit, sleep in it, cook in it, treat it like a free hostel — and the game still doesn’t consider it a residence.
Your second owned property — an actual building on an actual lot — cannot function as a second home because the system flags it as a rental, not a residence. It’s a property you own to rent out, not a property you can use for your own purposes like vacationing, living, or switching households. This is a rental lot. You own it for tenants, not for yourself.
