Reading your post, it sounds like you don't have Cottage Living, correct?
If not, purchasing groceries is a big part of the game. Probably my favourite part along with the Simple Living lot challenge.
And with Get To Work, you can create retail stores that sell groceries. I've downloaded a few and revamped them to include prepped ingredients for meals.
It's super fun!
