Please let us disable annoying notifications

Now that we have so many packs, the constant bombardment of notifications has really, really gotten stale. It's almost exhausting sometimes. There's too many things to click, too many distractions now. The High School notifications and Social Bunny especially grate my nerves. What do my young adult and older sims have to do with any of that? I'm tired of the constant texts begging me to go to Batuu, or visit Henford-on-Bagley, or to attend some random high school event as an old man. I'm tired of being begged to post on Social Bunny despite never touching it in that save. I'm tired of the calendar being filled to the brim with things I don't care about in that particular save, be it San Myshuno events or Mt. Komorebi ones, or Prank Day, or whatever the beat-the-crap-out-of-your-friends day is called.

We already have a tab to disable certain pack settings - so please, let us disable festival notifications, Social Bunny, Batuu/Henford notifications, and ESPECIALLY the high school ones. There are times that I appreciate the game giving me suggestions for things to do but more often than not I feel like I'm just running defense by constantly Xing out pop-ups and notifications.

  • Especially since the calendar is base game. Just put the events into the calendar SILENTLY unless we choose to activate a reminder for a particular event.

I started getting them in CAS yesterday and they were popping up over the clothing options. I particularly dislike the big notifications that expand when you catch them with the cursor and yesterday they were changing one after the other as I was trying to edit my Sims outfit. In CAS I can't click to clear them. I've had problems for a while with getting notifications for previous Households which I've mentioned on the appropriate thread, but that means I get quite a few extra ones in the mix as well.

When you add them to the constant phonecalls and text messages it's a bit of an annoyance. Added to that, the new console controls have given the game speed function to the triggers, so that when you clear notifications it speeds up the game.

I also get the same one's popping up again hours later and in the wrong order. I get calendar notifications when there's nothing going on too.

So I'd personally like a setting to filter out non essential ones or maybe a notification light instead of the notification popping up in full. The worst ones are the death notifications for CoL animals not in household if you have the bug with animals still dying with ageing turned off. Those dead bunny notices are awful!

So, yeah I'd like to see a few improvements here if possible.

  • The first thing I do in a new save, is edit the Calendar to increase the weeks and to add my own events. Though it bugs me to no end, that I cannot delete the useless, annoying events that EA forces upon me. Especially if I'm playing a themed hood, like Hogwarts or a Medieval hood, those prompts totally ruin the roleplaying and the gaming immersion for me. Let us at least edit them out of our custom Calendars. I doesn't even help to ignore them, because the prompts stay there until you actively acknowledge them and click them away or use a custom mod like UI Cheat Extension to "fulfil" the requirements. It's just shoddy game design and a sign of them not understanding their customers at all.

If making notifications a bit smarter (why SCREAM that there’s a cheerleading/football event in a household that never had any teens in it???) is too much to ask, then by all means, allow us to deactivate notifications in a configuration menu.
