Ugh I didn't know the two came hand in hand, I thought the point of them was to stop players complaining that the only telescope was that giant thing 😂 but still, in TS3 entire schools could be wiped out with meteors and everyone was inside then.

The base game small telescope was introduced in a patch before the Werewolves dlc pack. If you have that pack you get a second small telescope. I just remember them saying at the time that a potential new death was tied to that object.
