Re: Some Feedback on Servos

I like Servos a lot! but yeah. I think lots of people don't play with them because of the bar--you need a Sim with high-level robotics and a lot of time and parts to build them.

Whenever I see a broken Servo on a community lot, or generally out in the world, I always repair them as a random act of kindness. I've successfully called repair people for them, but I think that was because I was playing the Detective career and he was my Sim's coworker! So we called repair to the crime scene.

Also, if you're willing to cheat--or does this require MCCC--you can shift-click to repair them. If they're just looking uncomfortable but not broken yet you can shift-click to cheat their needs.

    @xochiquetzl_xkvn The shift click thing works without mods 🙂 It's testingcheats on, shift click, and pick "make happy". I often use it on servos that look uncomfortable, so that they won't break down and die

    With the things I've mentioned above the bonus trait is fixable with trait cheats, but gender, likes, dislikes, and sexuality aren't fixable even with cheats ☹️

    @SqueamishNerd I think the servos have been left out and forgotten about as new features came in e.g new emotion, likes/dislikes etc I think sexuality isnt applicable as they cant woohoo

    I staffed my Science lab with servos and made a shared house for them in one of my previous saves. I wanted to take the Lab into the future with a robotics station and lots of drones and droids. My biggest problem was that once I'd moved on to another household and I wasn't controlling the servos, I kept finding them broken down at various locations but I couldn't fix them even with max skills. You get the option to call the repair person out but they don't attend the droid, they go to your current lot instead. So I end up sadly standing with my injured, sparky droid vainly looking around for help like, "stay with me old buddy, stay with me it's going to be okay...nooooooo". It's best not to love them 😢.

    @simsplayer818 That's so sad :'(

    This made me realise something though. I think servos that have been played have to be greeted before repairing them, which can't be done if they're broken, while auto-generated servos that haven't been played can always be repaired. This is probably a bug that should be reported, but I'd have to do some testing to see if I'm not just misremembering, and I don't have the energy to test it right now.

    @gooochyeee  Robo-woohoo was a feature mentioned by most influencers when the pack came out. I remember LGR's review of Discover University fondly in this particular regard. They can woohoo your "regular" Sims or each other, but can only have babies through alien abduction (probably a bug, but please don't fix it because it's hilarious! Like, where even IS that baby? What??? LOL!).

    Your married (or single!) Servos can adopt children, however, if they wish to have a family without involving ET.

    @xochiquetzl_xkvn  Servos getting pregnant by abduction is a bug, and I kind of just assumed that it was fixed since it's such a major bug, but I found a bug report on it and it doesn't say that it's fixed. I'm adding the bug report in the thread start.

    While looking for that bug report I also happened to find a few other ones, namely servos having babies with neighbourhood stories, servos getting pregnant for the pregnant patient job task in the doctors career, and sims turning into servos. I'm adding those to the thread start too.

    I've just been rebuilding my game since the start of the year and I have absolutely no servos anywhere yet, they usually spawn once I've had a Sim start university or visit a campus. After that, they spawn as bartenders (surely a worrying rust hazard, one dropped glass of Barley Bale could spell disaster!) I also haven't added my engineering Sims back yet to build any and don't have any in Other Households either.

    So I'm adding it to my bug watchlist for when I move on to my Britechester Sims/engineers. It may be that the problem I'd been having has already been patched but time will tell.

    @SqueamishNerd I feel I need to make a new report now regarding Servos and rain. When outside in the rain they have the terrain options to Play in Rain and Shower in Rain. This doesn't seem right although both options drop out from the action queue before they even begin. The only time Shower in Rain gets greyed out is when there are kids around at which point the game says you can't get naked around kids which also doesn't make sense for Servos.

    @Alistu Did you make a report? In that case, could you link it here so that I can add the link to the main post?
