Sims 4 Ocean Exploration expansion pack [Aquariums, scuba diving and houseboats]

Underwater Diving areas

There are underwater diving areas that Sims can explore and that are interactive and actually visible to the player. Players can find treasure chests, explore underwater caves or sunken shipwrecks, harvest seaweed and catch fish swimming around. The fish that have been caught can be brought to the surface and exhibited in an aquarium.

There is a scuba diving skill. The higher the skill level, the longer a Sim can stay underwater and the less depressurizing time a Sim has.

Aquarium

There is an aquarium in town that you can stock with fish and other marine life like colorful sea slugs. These can be caught while scuba diving. There are giant aquarium tanks that you can stock with fish. There is an aquarium tunnel object that Sims can walk through, and it can be stocked with fish as well. Aquariums are a new type of community venue. There are saltwater tanks (with corals and rocks) and freshwater tanks (with kelp and wood branches)

Houseboat

Houseboats are a new type of home that Sims can live in. Houseboats are editable in Build Mode like a regular lot, except you can't add a basement.

Whale watching

There are whales jumping out of the ocean that you can go watch with your houseboat. You can offer paid whale watching tours or diving tours with your houseboat by clicking on the tourist information center.

Driftwood furniture

Collect driftwood at the beach and craft new driftwood furniture using the woodworking table from base game and Handiness skill.

Expanded mermaids

Mermaids should get their own skill tree like all other occults and more scary looking like Sirens. Sirens could also be a new type of occult. To expand Mermaids they should get…

  • Aquatic ears
  • New mermaid tails
  • Seaweed hair
  • Fish scale skin tone that makes the whole body have fish scales
  • Barnacles on body
  • Scaly arms and legs while on land
  • Fin on head (instead of hair)
  • Sims can become a Siren by getting bitten by a Siren. (Like vampires)
  • Mermaids/ Sirens can drink blood like vampires, but don‘t need to
  • More fish-like appearance
  • Fish-like eyes
  • Freezing abilities
  • Stronger manipulation powers
  • The Siren/ Mermaid skill tree
New collections

Sea slugs:

  • Verco's nudibranch
  • Black-margined sea slug
  • Leaf sea slug
  • Clown nudibranch
  • Orange side-gilled slug
  • Chromodoris nudibranch

New fishes (Saltwater fishes)

Harvest edible seaweed

Seaweed grows underwater and you can harvest it and eat it.

Shipwreck Exploration

There are underwater shipwrecks that you can explore, unlock doors by finding keys in storage chests, by being gifted keys from a local Sim etc. Metal debris blocks paths. Sims must use a sledgehammer to break through metal debris. Requires Fitness skill.

Sharks live inside these shipwrecks and your Sim needs to hide from them.

  • i just have a thought on this: how about having new collections you can collect ship wrecks similair to bikes in Nordhaven that comes with "Businesses and Hobbies"? (unless it's mentioned of course)

Maybe you could collect shipwreck parts (like ship planks, ship‘s wheel, porthole window, etc.) and use this at the woodworking table to craft furniture. This would integrate very well with the new proposed feature of driftwood furniture crafting at the woodworking table.

You can find shipwreck parts at the beach, while fishing, or during scuba diving while rummaging through debris at shipwreck sites.

  • YES to all of that!

Island Living is my favorite pack by far. The world is beautiful and my favorite to play in. But I wish that there was more we could do to interact with the ocean and more mermaid lore.

Just picture this: a new residential world Under the Sea, which would have a portal somewhere in Sulani but could also be accessed from Manage Worlds.

Build an underwater house. Mermaids can access directly. Others would have to get scooba gear. Magical Sims could maybe have a new spell or potion to breathe underwater or maybe also to become a temporary merfolk? Cross-pack possibilities are exciting!

Visit an underwater aquarium, explore the coral reef or the deep trench! This would be AMAZING!

  • I have wanted an Underwater Scuba Diving gameplay expansion pack for a long time now.

I would love being able to spearfish for crabs, lobsters, catch shrimp and other large varieties of fish. Then having the ability to cook said seafood!

As for the world, I wonder if staying away from island setting would be better and explore a different setting for the world. A large city that is scuba diving and aquarium lore derived. Dedicating the culture to educating, pursuing and enhancing scuba diving.

How about marine life documentation, whale appearances like the lochness monster in Windenburg, enhanced mermaid with an added skill tree, sea lions on the beach, pelicans snatching food from Sims that are picnicking. There's so much to add to enhance gameplay!

I love all of the ideas in this thread. They are very creative and well thought out. I hope we all eventually receive a scuba diving and underwater themed expansion!
