With so much going on in the world, it can be very overwhelming. As with many counselors, like myself, we are seeing a significant rise in anxiety, depression, etc. So, first, I do sincerely hope you are seeking counsel to help you with all you are going through. As for the game, I too enjoy "escaping" into a fun game from time to time to play and help ease the tensions of the day, taking our minds off ourselves and life for a bit.
EA had once made a promise to us players that they were going to scrub the Sims 5 or Project Rene, as they realized how much money, time, and yes... even emotions we poured into our games creating generations that we don't wish to loose.
This too is the concern of others, so you are not entirely alone here. While these are just a game, if we only paid like... IDK... maybe $20.00 or even $40.00 it wouldn't be such a big deal. But when hundreds or even a thousand has been poured into these games to build up all we have for a more fun and cherished experience... for many of us... that is not something small to dismiss altogether. So, while it is encouraging to see that EA is hearing the players who have been pleading for an open world and cars in our games. There are those of us who wish to keep going with what we have. With EA now exchanging hands with ownership, maybe that promise of keeping the Sims 4 may no longer be?? or they still might uphold that promise. I don't know. Only time will tell.
Either way, as much as we love our sims and our games, and while for some these games can be healing in its own right, please beloved... don't give this game that much power for your happiness and well being. Reclaim your power and know you are more capable than this game alone can provide. Just allow the game to be what it is... a source of temporary fun and entertainment.
