Testers for new update to prevent breaks?

Was there no way to identify this issue would happen? I may be wrong but I feel like if playtesters were used to test out updates before theyre fully released we wouldnt have issues like this happen where thousands of different users are affected by these huge breaks.

What makes it worse is some of us don't use mods any more due to so many previous experiences of this nature and yet... our games are still broken! I cannot play my game due to a new gallery/library glitch. If you place your own lot creations or gallery downloaded creations from other players and it uses even so much as one item from either Horse Ranch, For Rent, or Growing Together the gallery/library will not recognize your packs are installed correctly and will flag your lot for potential missing content. Yet, when you take the risk to place the lot in your game, all is intact. BUT... BUT because it is flagged as content missing, the lot itself starts to act up in odd ways affecting the gameplay experience. So now these lots are useless and unplayable.

I agree with everything said here, I also wonder do EA test these updates before release (more than likely not) I own every single sim 4 game release that I've spent hundreds of dollars on and I love mods to perk up game play that's to my liking and it sucks that since this update and hotfix that I'm still unable to play my game. I've decided that if my game play does not go back to the way I like it and get back to functioning properly that I will not spend another dime on sims 4. I personally think the marketplace is not for me and I feel like the marketplace mainly benefits creators so they can start getting paid for their creations.

  • I mean I think they do have some play testers for new EPs (and their corresponding updates), but I do not think they do for laundry list type updates.

I do not play with a lot of script mods (and if they made these features I wouldn't need them!). I have way too much time on my hands, I am finding bugs, and internal file errors on my own pretty quickly. I am only missing 2 EPs and 3 GPS (which I really don't have much interest in getting), but only have a few SP/Kits. So I have a good portion to test with, but I swear every ticket I post (some are years long known issues if you google it, but yet non-existent if you search the forums), they don't get the upvotes. So if you want a tester for the more obscure issues, and errors—I might be able to help XD

But I feel generally, although they claim their devs actually play the game, that they really don't play like the rest of us, the majority, or the addicted/obsessed.

Honestly, I’m not sure how thoroughly EA tests these updates, but I’m assuming they do—and if it meets a certain threshold, it gets released. That’s just my guess, and yes, it’s definitely frustrating when time and money are spent on making the game feel like your own, not just another typical “let’s be twins” kind of content, only for it to get ruined.

I honestly considered quitting the game for good, but I’ve decided to go through every mod and wait for updates to re-add them if the creator ever releases them. I also don’t plan on using the Marketplace—it’s not for me. I agree that it mostly benefits approved creators, those partnered with EA/Sims, and EA itself, likely through payments from other users/simmers.

  • I find it a bit suspect that an update to introduce paid cc disconnects free cc and mods
