Suggestion to improve game lag and save file size to some extent

Recently I went through every single member of every single household of mine and got rid of all of their excess stuff that builds up. More specifically fish, plants and flowers from gardening and collectibles that were not needed or were duplicates. I also usually go through and clean out family storage in build/buy by recycling anything I don't absolutely want to keep too. This absolutely improved my game performance very noticeably. Loading into my main sim's households was starting to take longer and longer even though not much changes anymore. As in expanding or adding rooms or anything. I mentioned this first because this is what got me think of the suggestion I am going to make and I do not believe it would be very difficult to implement. So here goes......

Most of my sims garden and I have four or five households with full sized gardens. Meaning they have every plant and tree available to plant. Each item on each plant or tree is an item count when loading the household I think. So I thought maybe the spellcasters could come up with a community garden building located in their area in Glimmerbrook. Sims could buy a small portal for their house that would travel them to their community garden making it easier to get there. When they do, they are in their own garden. That's all they see. That way only one garden loads into the game depending on what household is loaded.

The second part of this would be to make all harvested items like simoleons. They take up no space because they are not objects. This idea would go for fish and all collectables as well. Obviously gardening items and fish would need multiples for some things. So there would be an item count on how many a sim has, and they could transfer them to inventory when needed. Like people who actually cook and would need all that.

I initially had the idea of purchasing a small 2x4 building from the spellcasters and my sims could put in on their land. And when they enter, it is their full size garden inside. Kinda like that tent in the Harry Potter movie. For those that prefer to have their garden at their home but still same concept as I said above, only one garden loads in game at a time for the active household. The building would need to not be obnoxious and customizable on the outside to some extent so it could match what is going on with the looks of the house and such. I mean ranch people wouldn't want something that looks like the the Taj Mahal or a city building on their land lol. You get the point. Just something that fits in with most anything and doesn't take up much room.

I hope I have explained my thoughts well enough. I feel so strongly that if something like this could be done that it would be game changing. Especially for people with less powerful computers than others.

The simoleons really got me thinking about this. Two of my households have Just under 10 million simoleons and so they stuff excess in their vault to make the money pile so they can earn more. I stopped adding once the money pile was at 8 million. I haven't put the money pile back since I put them in their forever houses but I am sure it caused no lag before. I think it is the best example of what I am trying to say in that it exists in large amounts, but doesn't hinder anything that I have seen.

So there it is. I have some other ideas but I have to finish wrapping my brain around them to explain them. And I thought this would be a good start to see if I am laughed off the planet. I know nothing about creating a game but I figure if it works for one thing (simoleons), why not some other things too. Thanks for listening!!

  • Also, I was reading a post by someone and they mentioned something about books. BOOKS are another part of the huge problem. Per Household, I always buy all books available and collect them as my sims do read. That equals up to LOADS AND LOADS or books . I guess. I know we load into other households but I don't know if they are somewhat preloaded and I feel they are otherwise my game lag wouldn't get progressively worse when not really adding more items to my main households. Ok I am done. You get the picture.

  • I was mistaken. I am not done. Hopefully just this last thing to convey that if my suggestion could be implemented, it could avoid the pain and suffering that I am about to go through. My sim moved out of her dads house and took her chest and her gem crafting table and her apothecary table with her. Because you know, that seemed the smart way to do it since the chest and tables do not have a remove all option. WHY WHY WHY NOT? Anyway, When she placed them in her new house, all that happens is I get this crazy lag and nothing can be removed from any of them. I ended up deleting the apothecary table and getting a new one as I couldn't wait on that. I had her boyfriend move back into his dad's house and then I had her move back into her dad's house too, because I read somewhere that if you moved the tables and chest with the items in them from one house to another, that this could happen. So I figured moving back into her dad's house was worth a try. The good news is I will be able to recover the items it looks like. That bad news is, I am going to have to go one item at a time to place them on the ground and then have her pick them all up. And then when I move her back to her house, I am going to have to put all the books back in a bookshelf and I'm already overwhelmed with this and not sure I want to trust my gems and stuff in a table again. It is just a nightmare. If these items were not actual objects in her inventory, but an item count for these items like there is for simoleons, that she could just use the gem crafting table and it would pull from her item count, same as when she buys from a vendor it pulls simoleons from her simoleon count. Nightmare would be squashed!

You're only seeing a small portion of it too. There is so much stuff and I just feel like crying because I just want to play but had to figure out how to fix this first. 😓
