The Sims 4: Faith & Folly (Idea)

This invites you into a vibrant world of belief, rituals, and eccentric traditions, introducing a rich tapestry of faiths, cults, and communities for your Sims to explore. This expansion pack brings both reverence and whimsy to the forefront, with structured religions like the Worship of The Watcher, featuring solemn cathedrals and rhythmic dances, and satirical cults like the Kine Society, whose cow-themed rituals and offerings to Beelzebeef, the Prime Heifer, add a comedic twist. Whether your Sims join the soulful melodies of Ilmara, embrace the mysterious rituals of occult followers, or pursue materialistic devotion in the Church of Simoleonology, every belief system introduces unique gameplay. Build faith with the new Faith Bar, host interactive rituals, and celebrate faith-specific holidays like Watcher’s Day or Moo-Moon Night. Sims can explore new careers, from clergy member to cult leader, or gain fresh skills like Ritual Mastery and Sacred Cuisine. In the enchanting world of Divinora, discover grand temples, hidden grottos, and carnival grounds that serve as immersive backdrops for your Sims’ spiritual journeys. With dynamic new aspirations, traits, and objects like sacred altars and confession booths, Faith & Folly lets you craft a unique narrative of devotion, chaos, or skepticism. From devout worship to clownish absurdity, your Sims will find beauty, hilarity, and meaning in every step of their path.

New Features

Dire Chinchillas: Straight from the legends of The Sims Medieval on to The Sims 4, Dire Chinchillas make their chaotic return in Faith & Folly. These mischievous and slightly terrifying creatures are revered by certain cults as sacred animals, believed to carry the favor—or wrath—of The Watcher. Sims can tame, worship, or fear these unpredictable rodents. They may bring blessings during rituals, but beware—anger a Dire Chinchilla, and it might unleash a flurry of fur-filled chaos, scratching Sims into a very uncomfortable moodlet or worse. Keep their favor high with offerings of rare collectibles or risk their wrath!

New Faiths and Cults

The Worship of The Watcher: Rooted in The Sims Medieval, The Watcher is a benevolent overseer of all Sims. Choose from three distinct branches to guide your Sims' spiritual journey:

Watchfulism: Inspired by Christianity of the Watcher, this faith emphasizes structure and solemnity. Sims attend mass in grand cathedrals, partake in prayer circles, and celebrate holidays like Watcher’s Day.

Shalomea: Drawing from Jewish traditions of the Watcher, this branch celebrates family, community, and historical rituals. Sims can participate in weekly gatherings, light candles for special occasions, and read from sacred texts.

Ilmara: Inspired by African American religious traditions of the Watcher, this vibrant faith features musical worship, rhythmic dances, and a strong sense of unity within the community.

The Kine Society: A bovine cult worshiping Beelzebeef, the Prime Heifer, this group adds utter and absurdity. Members dress in cow-themed robes, host Moo-Moon ceremonies, and offer milk-based sacrifices to their deity. Fail to follow the rituals, and Beelzebeef might curse you with "Hoofed Misfortune."

The Treaders of the Tragic Clown: A satirical group that reveres the Tragic Clown as a misunderstood prophet. Members perform melancholy plays, host clown-themed parties, and proselytize through the Social Bunny app. The more they cry, the more their faith grows.

The Occultism Collective: A gathering of all things supernatural, this collective unites vampires, spellcasters, werewolves, and even ghostly Sims. Conduct seances, summon spirits, and perform arcane rituals. The more supernatural Sims involved, the stronger the rituals.

The Church of Simoleonology: Worship the almighty Simoleon! This faith celebrates wealth and materialism. Sims make offerings of Simoleons, host extravagant feasts, and pursue careers in business or politics. Members can unlock unique rewards, such as a golden idol of the Simoleon.

The Cirque Congregation: This traveling carnival-inspired group blends spirituality with fun. They hold lively gatherings filled with acrobatics, clown performances, and circus-themed rituals. Their motto? "Faith can be fun!"

Followers of Wolf’s Bane: A werewolf-exclusive group that reveres the moon as their deity. They gather under the full moon to perform howling ceremonies, engage in pack-building activities, and hunt together in reverence of nature.

Anonymous of the Doubter: A faith-neutral community that gathers skeptics and non-believers. They host science fairs, debates, and logic-focused events. Members gain bonuses in careers related to science and technology.

Clan of the Cowplant: This group celebrates nature and the mysterious Cowplant. Members nurture gardens, perform outdoor rituals, and make offerings to their Cowplant to ensure it doesn’t eat them.

Faith System

Every Sim can now explore faith through a new Faith bar. Sims gain or lose faith depending on their actions, participation in rituals, and relationships with fellow believers. Low faith can lead to existential crises, while high faith grants unique buffs and interactions.

Ritual System

Rituals are interactive group events specific to each faith or cult. Examples include:

Worship Ceremonies: Attend or lead services to gain Faith and form bonds.

Sacred Feasts: Prepare and share unique dishes tied to your belief system.

Seasonal Celebrations: Participate in faith-specific holidays, such as Watcher’s Day or Moo-Moon Night.

Arcane Summoning: For occult followers, summon spirits or supernatural allies.

New Lot Types

Temple: A place of worship for structured religions.

Shrine: A small, intimate lot for personal devotion or secret rituals.

Cult Headquarters: A mysterious lot type where secrecy and eccentricity reign.

New Holiday Options

Customize the calendar with new religious holidays, complete with rituals, decorations, and traditions.

Examples:

Carnival of Lights: A faith-neutral celebration featuring food, music, and games.

Sacrifice Day: For the Kine Society. (Don't worry, no Sims are harmed!)

New Types of Death

Death by Overwhelming Laughter: Tragic Clown followers can laugh themselves to death during a failed ritual.

Death by Moo-Misstep (Beelzebeef’s Wrath): A Kine Society member offended Beelzebeef.

Faithful Departure: Sims who reach the pinnacle of devotion ascend dramatically (or humorously) to "The Great Beyond."

Cowplant Blessing Gone Wrong: A risky ritual performed by followers of the Clan of the Cowplant. If the blessing is mishandled or the Cowplant isn’t properly appeased, it may lash out, consuming the Sim in a fatal act of "divine punishment.

New Careers

Clergy Member: Rise through the ranks of your chosen faith, from a humble novice to a revered leader.

because the sims games are not about faith or religion as we know and understand in the real living world. We all believe in something but we don't all believe in the same thing or religion in the real world.

I don't play this game to experience or connect to a real or make believe faith/religion. I play to escape and explore.

Yes, I want this to be the reality for sims gameplay!

  • This is a an awesome idea but I don't think EA would be into adding a make believe sims faith to the game. It's too close for comfort/reality for simmers. Adding a Faith, Folly or Religion takes away form my gameplay for me. Death is enough.

You can always create this type of gameplay with your imagination after all....
