I know dear. I'm familiar with hot soft serve works. I wouldn't be opposed though if they re-introduced the Ice Cream Truck in addition to an Ice Cream Parlor that shows up in Summer driving slowly playing a little jingle in neighborhoods and shows up at the Community Parks. I like in how little kids run up to the truck with their money and how happy they are. I would love how sometimes the little ones yell "Ice Cream, Ice Cream" that would be very cute in Simlish. Now that would be the best of both worlds indeed. Our neighborhoods are dearly in need of a bit of flavor, randomness and a bit of childhood whimsy.
In the Sims 3 the items you could purchase were
- A Soft Serve Ice Cream Cone - It was pink so guessing strawberry
- Fudge Popsicle
- Colored Popsicle
- Freezer Bunny Popsicle
I would make the suggestion

We would need working cars for icecream trucks in TS4. 😁 Maybe they could drive a bike with a cooler box and umbrella stand.
