Use the same system as in For Rental for different businesses in a business lot

Would it be possible to use the same system we currently use for For Rental to define different business areas?

I have two business in the same lot owned by different sims. If I don’t lock the other business door, the sims will use the objects and visit the other shop when the first business is open.

If I do as described above and later play with other household, I need to remember to first unlock the doors or I won’t be able to enter when visiting.

Wasn’t it advertised that was possible to have different businesses on the same lot? How was that to work?
