Recently I played Sims4 on Xbox Series X and had a ton of fun, however the gibberish spoken drove me nuts. So I searched 'change Sims4 to English on Xbox' and finally realized the gibberish is Simlish. This is a complete downer to me because I was going to buy expansion packs, but unless it's actual English it's very doubtful. I read on a couple of sites that the actors completely made it up and the developer did it so the game would have 'universal appeal'. English is universal, and not to mention, actors speaking other countries language could be added.I noticed the PC version offers '18 languages', but is that just the text and are the characters still speaking Simlish? I hope it means the characters are actually speaking a different language than Simlish.Please EA, on consoles, Xbox Series X and Playstation 5, update and add English and the 18 languages with characters speaking it rather than Simlish.

@DudeX44 , the Sims series of games has always been spoken in Simlish . It has been so for over 20 years! 😎This is part of the charm of the Sims! 🥰 Also, if they were to use real language they would have to hire a large amount of speakers to act out all the dialogue, instead of just hiring a few to voice female voices, male voices , children's voices. That would delay each pack for release, and also be an extra large cost just to make the game. 😓 Also, it was stated that they originally decided to do this because the dialogue would become repetitious and extremely annoying if it was in a real language that you could understand!😣 I have to agree that it would become old very fast if I had to listen to the game in a language that I knew! 😅

@DudeX44 The 18 languages on PC/Mac are just the text, the spoken language is still simlish, same as on console. As @xochiquetzl_xkvn said, it's been like that since the original Sims. It was done so the spoken language would not be as repetitive and allowed people to use their imagination as to what the sims were saying. @LathyrusLoonI will explore songs being redone in Simlish. Thanks for the tip, I did see one artist who did one, but didn't have time yet.A couple of games I play do have some words in English spoken over and over each time the game loads. It was enough for me to finally realize how it would be and get very tiresome.After playing awhile, Simlish is starting to grow on me. Heck, last night my character built a rocketship and we are blasting off soon into space to find some aliens. It's a fun game. 🙂

@DudeX44 you're welcome!🙂 Some of us have been playing the Sims since the first Sims game came out in 2000, so for us it is strange to think of the Sims without Simlish! 😂 However, I can now see how you thought that the game would be in the language you bought the game for. Older players probably didn't even notice that section of the box or online with that info, so we were scratching our heads trying to figure out why people keep thinking the game voices will be in their language! 😅 So you do bring up an important and valid point!🤨 Thanks for explaining things from a newbie's perspective! Hopefully for any future versions of the game, it would be stated that only the descriptions and commands will be in the players language and that all voices in the game will be in Simlish! 🤞

@DudeX44 I would hate to lose simlish! The simlish, and the songs redone inbsimlish, is one of the things I love best.

Look at Social Bunny and how painfully repetitive and boring the posts are in that. If they made sims in English the whole game would be like that. The same handful of lines said over & over.

Simlish is just much better.

Considering I'm a new player, yes I did not expect it and as posted, I initially thought it was simply a matter of a setting change. In the EA FAQ and descriptions of the different versions (PC/MAC/Consoles), it doesn't state that Simlish is spoken by the game characters, only that the game supports '18 languages', with nothing clarifying 'it's only text in the game, not spoken language by the characters.' I found that to be very confusing, else I wouldn't have felt a need to post here.

After reading more about 'Simlish' and it's creator and why it was used, it's making much more sense to me. Thanks for your opinion and reply.

@PugLove888 After reading more about Simlish, it's clearer to me why it was used and the purpose it serves. Although, if EA ever decided, an expansion pack (not the base game) could potentially have English as an 'option', without taking Simlish out of the game. However, you make a solid point with the many actors that would be needed and the costs involved, this and the delay of a pack wouldn't be good. After thinking about it, yes the repetition could become old very fast.

Not everyone knows about Simlish and the link you posted explained it all it great detail! This is exactly the kind of details I needed to fully ascertain the reasoning behind it.
