(No one else on any forums seems to be having this issue so i’m wondering if the issue is my save file being corrupted)

I’ve gone and done all the troubleshooting recommendations, cleared my cashe, repaired my game, done a mod-less test, and no matter what I do I can’t load into any households. Owned and unowned, no matter what lot type, EA built or otherwise.

About 50% of the time i’ll get the attached error message, but no matter what I do i’ll never be able to load into a lot. Even on a completely fresh, mod-less save, I can make a household in cas, select a season to play in, choose a lot, but I can never load into it. None of the troubleshooting recommendations have helped, and the game is completely unplayable since this update.

(Edit: I note the bug starting specifically after this update because I was just playing with relatively no issues beforehand. The only change made from now to then is the update, and I downloaded the newest version of mccc, the same routine I do after every update and patch with no issue. Besides that I haven’t downloaded any new mods or cc. I don’t play with many script mods, no UI mods, no reshade or retexture mods, really only cc hairs and makeup and things like that. It could be possible that I have some old outdated mod, but I don’t understand why it would only be a problem after this update.)

  • Today’s patch fixed it! I know ya’ll are gonna be bombarded with new bug reports due to it but i’m so glad that it fixed this one. A lot of the key mods I use are now outdated, so it’ll be a minute before I can go back to playing regularly but i’m glad at least the base game is running smoothly. With mods removed I was finally able to load into my households, in my original save file. So glad to finally load in and see all my bald sims.

  • @spritelst Error codes are usually limited to one save unless it's a general bug and you reintroduce the Sims/lots with the problem in the new save or there's still a mod lingering in your save.

Have you renamed your entire folder before when starting a new save ?

What do you mean rename the folder? Like I said when I tested the new save I had completely emptied my mods folder and put them all on my desktop, so mods are 100% removed.

  • @spritelst I have the same issue. I ended up erasing the file and restarted. Once I tried to play my restarted file again I got the game error. I have no mods installed and tried to repair the game a few times but nothing works. I think it may have to do with the update since it happened to two of my sims files.

Thank you! I was thinking it had to be the update causing the issue. The only thing I can do in the sims as of now is to mess around in cas, and so be it I guess. Just hoping enough people notice this thread so that the bug is fixed in the next patch.

I haven’t tried deleting my old save file cause i’m too attached to it but it’s crazy that even that didn’t work for you. Really hoping that next patch is soon, worst case I guess we wait for the life and death update and see how it goes from there. I’ve also preordered that pack, so i’ll be really annoyed if I can’t use it.

    I mean this:

    • Close the game
    • Rename Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4_Old
    • Repair the game
    • Start the game. All your content will be gone now as the game created a new folder. All your saves/.. is still in the old folder so not to worry.
    • Start a new save game
    • Check if you still have the error
    • Report back with your results for further steps on how to get your stuff back.

@GraceHughes Do you have the exact same error number ?

I was actually able to load into a lot, not a household, but an unfinished restaurant I had been in the process of building when my game broke. I was able to finish it, but ended up getting this error message every time I tried to save. Lost all progress but oh well, not too much work to re-do, just wondering why this is the only lot I can load into and why I can’t save afterwards.

@spritelst I know you said it's even a new save with nothing added back but could you send me your main save anyways

If so, please zip your saves folder and upload it somewhere like dropbox, googledrive or OneDrive and PM me the link.
