A question about my Sim's dog.
Sul! Sul!
I'm new to the Cats & Dogs expansion, and to the Sims 4 generally, I've only gotten 443 hours in, and I'm still learning how things work.
My Sim Kari has a question about going to work, she's worried about her dog Shadow, and if he'll be ok while she is at work. She thinks it would be a good idea to find work somewhere. She asked me, and I didn't know, and she said "well you're not much of a deity are you?" I agreed that I'm not a very good one. But I told her I'd ask around, and see if I could find the answer. So I'm asking all of you. Will Shadow be ok and just chill at the house while Kari is at work?
@geekigurl yes, Shadow will be absolutely fine at home while your Sim is at work. The game will go onto fast forward when your Sim leaves and you will usually see Shadow either sleeping or lying down or just standing up until the Sim gets home. If it's a job where you follow your Sim to work, Shadow will still be fine. They do like a little attention or they can trudge about a bit with their heads down looking like they are pining, but they do that when your Sim is at home to seek pets and cuddles. If they don't get enough love while your Sim is at home they sometimes run away for a few hours but they always return within 24 hours, you can put an alert out on the phone but I've rarely got any use out of that.
A couple of extra tips if you're new to the pack. Pop to the vet's office and get some Wellness treats from the vending machine. If your pet gets sick it's handy to have them in your inventory so you don't have to rush them to the vet. Just give them a treat and they'll perk up (they don't always work on strays though). Automatic pet feeders are great too, but pets still often need to be told to eat. They also often still need to be told to go potty and to get into their bed to sleep. It helps to change your home lot traits to "Training Ground" as well to help pets learn skills fast. Once you've really bonded with the pet, if you haven't noticed you can get extra reward points with "Feel the Love". Once a day you can get 100 points from your pet and after you max the relationship and Become Companions, your pet will give you 200 points a day from "Feel the Love".
If your Sim wants a job where she doesn't have to leave Shadow she can use Register with Ministry of Labour on the phone to make up a job and work from home or go freelance. My current Sim is a Florist so she can stay at home with her German Shepherd puppy. She makes flower arrangements and takes them to her retail lot where she has a little flat for her dogs to stay over with her... except puppies have to be carried up steps 🐶.
