Pick up serving is there and so is pack in lunch, but if I want my sim to automatically eat cake then I have to do pick up serving and then wait for them to set it down and then tell them to eat it. It's very annoying.

Could you test another Sim to make the cake ? Any spice perk mastery skills ?
This has been an issue for a while. It has been the same on multiple saves. It is a consistent issue no matter the type of cake, sim cooking, lot, etc

My Werewolf Sim doesn't have 'Paw a Plate' pie menu for the Gourmet Fruitcake in the fridge. That pie menu is 'Take a Piece' for normal Sims. I confirmed this issue in normal Sim too. That pie menu disappears from the Gourmet Fruitcake in fridge.
I don't test on other cakes yet, but if I have time, I'll try it.

Almost cakes in the fridge doesn’t have a ‘Paw a Plate’ pie menu except following cakes.

About Baking skill, all cakes made with Oven had a ‘Paw a Plate’ pie menu while they were in the fridge.
Play Condition:
PC via EA app, no Mods/CC
On Residential lot, Werewolf Sim, no job
In testing the other cakes, raised each skill, Cooking from Lv7 to 10, Baking from Lv6 to 10 and Gourmet from Lv4 to 10 with testing cheat.
Some cakes containing essential ingredients have not been tested.
I don’t have following DLCs;
EP; High School Years, Lovestruck, Life & Death, Businesses & Hobbies, Enchanted by Nature, Adventure Awaits
GP; Journey to Batuu
SP; Kids Room, Home Chef Hustle, Crystal Creations
And over half of Kits.
