I was trying to make some changes to my game, but somehow I deleted the save file. I've been trying to get it back, but the saves file in my documents folder is empty and my recycling bin doesn't have one. It seems to have disappeared into the ether, and I'm going nuts trying to find it again.
If you still have the sim in your library just start a new game and import your sim from the library. When asked to create a sim, click no and open your library and select your sim, now click the merge or replace button (its at the bottom right of the sim import window)
Thats it!
Your sim will have all the skills n traits they had when you saved them to your library.

theorclair If you deleted the save file from within the game, it's gone. The game just flushes the file.
You might get lucky and find it in a OneDrive (Windows) or iCloud Drive (macOS) backup; even if you never opted into the service, it could have been running anyway. And of course you can restore a manual backup if you have one. But aside from that, there's nowhere else to look.
