If you’re using a lot of charisma interactions - are you asking for loans and flirting, or just doing things like “brighten day”? I think if you flatter/sweet talk and there’s more than 2 sims in the conversation, you’ll usually get an awkward moodlet. You might also get an awkward result if ask for loan fails, but I’m less sure about that.
I guess there are less Friendly Charisma interactions than I thought—I do use Brighten Day frequently, but also Friendly interactions without the Charisma icon; sorry for misspeaking. I have also tried flirting if I can get the conversation to "Casual Discussion" but it seems to go poorly, even though my Sim has high Charisma and sometimes the Sim she's talking to is in a Flirty mood.
You might be right that it's influenced by there being other Sims around, since Sims out in public tend to just come up and join conversations all the time.
