Are they really supposed to grieve this much?
I like to play social sims with big extended families for generations. But OMG now they're constantly grieving grieving grieving. Because let's face it, Sims die every day and it's a small Sims universe.
Now they're constantly feeling some kind of grief because their grandparent/parent/uncle/cousin/friend from high school they haven't seen in forever/mailman they said hello to once/etc. die. Grief, grief, grief. Always angry. Always depressed. Grief counseling grief counseling grief counseling, I have to send them like twice a day every day and it just goes on and on and on... It's not that it doesn't resolve at all, it's that someone else is always going to die the next day or two and even if they barely knew them, they grief cycle just starts over again before it is resolved.
I mean, jeez-- I would be okay if they only acted like this when an immediate family member or spouse or even partner/BFF died... but they do it for every single Sim they have ever known! Like their days are short enough that you have to set aside a large portion of each day just to help them deal with grief so they will actually do their work and care for their kids and go for their goals. My Sim is a vet but she has to greet every client angrily because she's always grieving because she was popular in high school and college and has a big family w/all ages, or I have to shut down the business to go to grief counseling again.
Didn't they say they wanted to make grieving more realistic? Because it's just not realistic that every human being on the planet is always walking around depressed or angry or lethargic from grieving for every single person who dies every day. Maybe a few people are but most of us, when someone dies of old age or someone we barely know dies, we grieve temporarily for some and go on with life.
For real, please tell me I did something wrong or it's a glitch. I don't wanna believe this what they intended.
I love this game so much but it is a challenge in all the wrong ways. I hate to get mods that slow my game down but it's like the game is almost unplayable without them. Every time I remove them and fix everything and try to play without them I just get annoyed allover.
It's always great ideas, but poor execution. Why?
