Baby doesn't appear after being born

My household exists of 7 people and 2 sims did woohoo and the sim was pregnant. 
She went to the hospital to get the baby and went home WITHOUT a baby. I didn't get a pop-up for choosing the name of the baby. 
Now I tried to make a new baby, the 'try for a baby' option doesn't show up because my game thinks my household is full now, with 8 sims. 
While I have 7 sims... 
I talked about this in the EA help chat and tried clearing the cache and restarting the game but the problem is still there... 
Anyone who knows what I can try?

    @simonvl1  Try evicting the household and placing it on a different lot; see if the baby appears then.

    If that doesn't work, you can try splitting the household, to see how many sims the game thinks are in each new household.  As in, keep adding sims through CAS until the game says no again, and you'll have your answer.  You don't need to save your progress; the idea is to isolate where the phantom sim is and go from there.
