Bottom part of screen disappears if I build or travel with sims

I've had this problem for 2 months now but I hoped the issue would fix itself. If I travel or try to build in the sims 4 the playback buttons, needs, everything on the bottom completely disappears. And I can't click on anything when this happens. It's made my game completely unplayable. The only thing that works is create a sim. I've restarted the game and my computer multiple times. I've tried exiting to manage worlds and go back in and it still doesn't work. Unfortunately I can't attach a photo because the file is too big. I'm not sure what to do
