Breaking up teens and adults

I have a teen sim with a drama llama aspiration. She's gotten to the part where she needs to break up with someone, and she has a boyfriend who I don't particularly care about anyway so I was going to have her break up with him, but I noticed he just transitioned into a young adult, and I'm not finding the breakup option available. I know sometimes you have to perform many mean interactions for breakup to become an option, but I tried that and it still never popped up. Asking to be just friends is an option, but that doesn't satisfy the aspirational requirement to break up. Is breaking up an option between teens and young adult, or do I need to put her into a relationship with another teen and have her break up with them in order to continue her aspiration?

  • Romancing a different teen would be the easiest method.

If you don't want to do that, check whether the game still recognizes them as boyfriend and grirlfriend. It should be stated in the boyfriend's profile, where the sentiemnts are listed. If they are still bf/gf, then the breakup option should show up in the pie menu under "Mean". I've heard (not experienced myself) that the option sometimes won't show up if the romance bar is already too low.

  • I would recommend getting another Teen relationship to break up with. I did a quick test, and Break Up was available between Cassandra Goth and Malcolm Landgraab immediately after I aged him up, but that might be because I used cheats to age him in CAS and the break up was less than an hour after he aged.
