can a laptop with these specs run the sims 4 on med-high settings?

i want to get a laptop with these specs and be able to run sims on med-high settings with cc and mods. is it possible? Acer - Nitro 5 15.6" Gaming Laptop - AMD Ryzen 5 - 8GB Memory - AMD Radeon RX ...

@princesspietsch Those specs should easily handle all high settings, and probably a mix of high and ultra even if you own all packs. The only thing you might want to be careful about is the size of the hard drive. 256 GB is more than enough space for Sims 4 plus all your saves, saved builds, mods and cc; and any number of small apps. But if you'd like to install other large games, or store large collections of data (music, movies, photos, etc.), you might need a bigger hard drive.

If you'd like, I can look around for other suggestions for you. Just post your budget and country, as well as any other details that matter to you. If not though, this laptop should be more than fine for what you want out of it.

thanks! my budget is probably under $700 and i’m in the US. if you have any other suggestions i’d be happy to hear! 🙂

  @princesspietsch For under $700, you can still do a bit better than the laptop you found. There aren't many options with a larger hard drive and otherwise equal or better specs than the model you're considering, but if the only thing that will take up a lot of storage is Sims 4, you'll be fine. Here are a few examples of what you can get, in order of increasing price and also increasingly powerful hardware.
  
  This HP is the cheapest good new option I saw, at $580. Its processor and graphics card are both a bit better than the ones you listed, although the difference is small. It has the same small solid state drive too.

  For $650, this Asus has a somewhat faster graphics card than the one in the above laptops and the slightly weaker processor in the one you found. Since Sims 4 is most heavily reliant on the graphics card, this tradeoff is likely worth it: this might mean the difference between running all future packs together on ultra settings or having to dial some of the settings back to high. (It's unclear at this point what the final requirements will be for ultra settings.)

  If you do want more storage, the only equivalent option I saw was this Acer, $700 on a site that doesn't charge sales tax if you sign up for its card. (Not something I'd normally do, but it's a significant cost savings.) This laptop has the same Nvidia 1650 as in the Asus above, but a much stronger processor than any of the other models, plus a 512 GB solid state drive. That's more than enough storage for most people.

    thank you so much, i will probably get the hp for the better graphics card. i was wondering if you know is there any way to expand the solid state drive of that laptop?
