Can I switch to the EA app and keep my saves and packs?

Hello, I am trying to switch over to the new EA app and I was just wondering, would I be able to switch over without backing up my saves and still have all my saves and packs in the new app? I dont know if that makes sense but my laptop is old and slow and backing stuff up takes days. To repeat my question maybe in a better way, can I switch over to the EA app while keeping my saves and packs without having to back up my save? Thanks

  • @BriannaPotato23    Hello!  The short answer is yes.  I switched to the app at the end of 2022.  When I signed into my EA account through the app, all my packs were available.  When I launched the game, all my saves were there as well.  Some users have had varying experiences with their packs but I believe EA has made a lot of improvements since then.

That being said, if you're at all worried about losing your saves, settings, mods, etc.  it is a good idea to regularly create a backup of your The Sims 4 folder.  It's also probably a good idea to keep the backup on a thumb drive or external drive, just in case your laptop ever crashes.  If you have access to cloud storage like Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive, that would work also.

Yeah, I recently had the EA app foisted upon me in a forced migration and wasn't at my most mature and reasonable about it. 😉

That said, I'm obsessive about backing up my saves and my tray. I wrote a script that I double-click after each play session. I... experenced the tragedy of data loss once and am still scarred for life, okay? 😉

So... yes, your packs should all be there, your saves and mods and tray files should all be there, but... back them up just to be sure first.
