Try the following
- Close the game
- Rename Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4_Old
- Repair the game
- Start the game. All your content will be gone now as the game created a new folder. All your saves/.. is still in the old folder so not to worry.
- Start a new save game
- Check if you still have the error
- Report back with your results for further steps on how to get your stuff back.

@crinrict I'm not the OP but I'm having the same issue and I did all the things you've recommended. Even in the brand new save, after multiple repairs and deleting the cache folders... even in the new save I can't click on Sims or objects.

Do you have any LastException files in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 ?
Best is to delete the ones you have, then trigger the error and check if new ones are created.
If that is the case, please upload them to a new post in this thread.
Please either create a .rar file to upload or copy/paste the content into your post.
Deleting the file won't fix your issue. Uploading the file is meant for troubleshooting.
- 10 months ago@crinrict Hi i'm playing on PC. And after the 3rd time of uninstalling the game. I went into the Sims 4 Document folder, renamed the folder to "Sims 4_backup", re-installed the game and started the game up. It created another Sims 4 folder.
This was after multiple times of uninstalling the game, deleting the localthumbcache with no mods installed.
I also have an NVIDIA and playing on DX11.
Not sure how its working now, but it is... and now I can click on objects and Sims.
