cannot propose with crystal creations ring

This has been happening since before the update on 22 October 2024. Every time I select the ring in my sim's inventory and choose "propose", the sims will stand to face each other, and the music plays. But then the sims glitch out, and the ring appears in the other sim's inventory. I have tried with and without mods and after repairing the game.
