Cannot purchase books, cannot cook, cannot upgrade objects

1. No mods, no CC

2. Cannot purchase all skill books from bookshelf or computer. The list is incomplete.

3. Cannot upgrade objects (upgrade parts are in inventory and handiness skill is maxed out)

4. With Simple living challenge, cannot cook food (prepped ingredients, etc are available and cooking/gourmet skills are maxed out)

5. Uninstalled/reinstalled game, deleted EA folder and started fresh. Problems solved but returned after a day of playtime.

    I'm having the same issue and I also downloaded the free kits. I was able to fix it by deleting the Sims 4 folder under Electronics Arts in My Documents with several attempts. After deleting the folder on my 1st try, there was a new bug where the Purchase Books option was missing from the Bookcase menu. Same with the Order menu, it is also missing from the computer. After several attempts of deleting the Sims 4 folder and validating the installed files (through Steam), I was able to purchase new books. Although, after a few hours of playing the original issue of not being able to buy new books happened again. I hope EA rolls out a patch to fix this issue.

    I am also having this issues of unable to purchase books from a bookcase in live mode. I have not found an answer to this issue yet. I have tried a completely new save, and a new sim, and still have the issue. the only think I downloaded were the free kits (country kitchen & Holiday)

    VonMD​  The books and cooking issues seem to relate to storage containers.  In the case of fridges, there is a limit (which I have forgotten, 2 maybe?) of how many you can have on the lot.  Idk if there is a limit on the number of bookcases you can have on the lot.  I have no idea if this will work but try removing all but one bookcase and one fridge to see if anything changes.

    Hi VonMD​ 

    1. Which books are you missing ? Can you post a screenshot ?
    2. What happens ? Are they still greyed out ?
    3. Same question ? Are they greyed out or what happens ?

    Does this happen with every Sim and a new save with a new Sim ?

    For clarification, when Sim A purchases a book through the bookshelf or computer, it only lists the books they already own. I switched households and told Sim B to buy books (he hasn't bought any books before). The purchase books screen only shows the books that Sim A already owned (who lives in another house).
