Can't pick up infant

This bug started randomly in the middle of my gameplay (the game had worked fine for 2 hours before that). I had an alien baby age up into an infant, but every time I try to pick him up, my sims wave their arm in the air and the "I can't go there" thought bubble appears. It happens no matter where the infant and the sim is. Every interaction that does not involve picking him up works fine, however. I tried everything on the other thread, but the bug keeps happening. I also tried restarting my game, repairing my game, testing for and removing broken or outdated mods, recovering my save, changing the house I had on the lot, and going from world view back to the household. Nothing is working. Please help, I can't play with this family until the bug goes away because I can't take care of my infant.

    Update: I moved to a different lot, and my sim was able to pick up my infant, but wasn't able to put him down anywhere. Then I bulldozed the lot and my infant reset and ended up on the ground. Now I can't pick him up again.
