Can't place stairs next to interior walls

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? Most recent
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Everything except Batuu
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Try to place a staircase against an interior wall.
What happens when the bug occurs? The staircase will not place even if there is room to step on and off, the indicator turns red and it looks like the staircase goes under ground.
What do you expect to see? A staircase. By a wall?
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No

So, trying to build a tiny house in Mt Komorebi for my new sim and trying to place a staircase against the inner wall with enough room for the sim to get up the stairs and hit floor on floor 2, you know a functional staircase against an internal wall.  Something totally normal.

Nope, can't do it!

Anyone else having this problem know of a workaround?

  • @Sephirajo It didn't work in the first picture because it's too close to the far wall. It worked in the second because you pulled it back further away that time.
  • I'd normally agree accept I've been able to place next to interior walls just like this all the time, and also it's telling me there's obstructions where there are none.  I've kept up testing and yeah still having odd problems with stairs.  Like it will go next to a wall in a blank room with plenty of room above and below for the stairs and then you try to extend it just one with a wall that also is the exact same it will stop saying there's obstructions, where there isn't.  I have other houses where I have placed stairs next to walls the same way.  I literally can not attach any stair to any wall that is not fully an interior one, and even then it's causing problems.

Did anyone find an answer to this?

Mine is doing exactly the same thing and states "Modular stairs have no steps" when I try to place them.
