So, I'm extraordinarily baffled.
I'm really close with all my chicken, all have great relationships etc, and I was told this is what you needed for them to lay gold eggs...however, they never did, and a lot of then are now elders, just to give you an idea of how long I've waited. I'm doing errands and talking to the wild rabbits and birds and accept their gifts etc, and still nothing.
Am i missing something? XD any help would be greatly appreciated!
It's random chance (Or RNG). So basically you've just been very unlucky.
Also the chickens need to be "very happy" for them to lay the eggs, I believe. Hover over the chickens once a day or so to see that their needs are full. You can chat to multiple chickens at once to keep their social high, so gather them around and crack a few jokes for them daily.
I've had happy chickens lay all sort of coloured eggs, golden & rainbow as well, but often they'll be green / blue / orange.
It's rare but I've confirmed it happens. If you want your chickens to live longer, feed them healthy treats and they'll be around for a long, long time.

Yeah, I have great relationships with my chickens and all of them are always happy or content. Only ever had normal eggs 🥺 maybe when the next lot come in after my elder ones are gone ill have more luck 😅
