Complaint - Update deactivated dlc

I was informed that the place i listed my complaint was an old post and I needed to put it in a new post.

I am so angry to begin with that I thought about not bothering since I as a player am not important to EA what so ever. I'll repost my original rant:

I'm angry that after this last update all my dlc has been deactivated. I did the clear cache on the app then all my dlc was uninstalled so i had to reinstall each one individually but they are still deactivated. According to the 'help' crap I need to go to the market place to reactivate. Unacceptable. I refuse. I am not using the market place when i already purchased the dlc before it ever existed. So I won't be playing the Sims. I don't need to play EA games period. EA hates their players. I'm going to like them to a saying from San Diego area. Welcome to La Jolla, please deposit your funds and go away. I'm not depositing funds anymore and I will go away but i thought I'd let everyone know why.

Furthermore; the repair button and the download all button have been taken away from the EA app.

Sorry to hear about the frustration that the deactivated packs bug has caused. Especially since you'd already owned those packs and accessed them just fine before the update interfered with that experience.

Just wanted to pop in to let you know that what you and other Simmers experienced with those deactivated packs was noted by the studio and has since been addressed in the latest patch, so it should be resolved now!

And to quickly provide some context on why the previous workaround pushed players to access the Marketplace, it wasn't for the sake of repurchasing content, but to access the screen where pack management now lives. From there, you'd just need to select the packs you own but can't access, then click 'confirm' to reactivate them.

Hope that clears things up a bit!

Regarding the missing buttons in EA App, could you please upload a picture of what you're seeing? The repair game option should appear after clicking 'Manage' or the three dots when you hover over The Sims 4's card in your Library section.

  • Since all my dlc was deactivated and the sims 4 was removed from my library, I decided to find my original disk. Unfortunately it is one of those that the setup.exe was never included with the disk. If I remember correctly I had to create a Disk1 folder on the desktop, copy the sims4.zip file into that folder and download the exe from EA to install it. i doubt very much that the exe can still be found on line. I tried using the EA app to activate the code to see if I could initialize it that way but it just says the code has already been activated.
Another thing I did was install on Steam. I'm hoping my dlc will show up there but unfortunately, Steam only has the free to play Sims 4 base game. My limited edition had extra stuff.

So is there anyway to get my limited edition reinstalled?

Then why is not only my packs still deactivated but my sims 4 base game was removed? I created a thread in the technical forum portion because I was trying to reinstall my Sims 4 Limited Edition disk but I'm having issues making that happen.

  • No, that doesn't work. I tried. You can't repair the game even if the function was there because you removed the game completely from the library. Whoever marked this as solved failed to understand that it isn't. But I guess that is EA propaganda for you. The packs are still deactivated.

Your packs are deactivated, not installed, or not showing as purchased? Those are three very different problems. If they’re deactivated, they’re in your library and installed, just not showing in game because your pack management settings have them deactivated. Do you mean they don’t show as purchased in the EA app? Where did you buy them from - directly in the app? If so, please check the sales history - are you definitely logged in on the same account you bought them on?

The issue was more complicated than just deactivated dlc but that is the way it started. EA totally removed my game from the library. Thankfully, I found tech chat support. They were very helpful and walked through things with me to remedy the situation which involved all sorts of things. From removing the sims 4 folder, deleting app cache, uninstalling the app and reinstalling which allowed the dlc to be activated but my limited edition sims 4 wasn't showing up. Tech support fixed that too. I was able to download it and restore my game. I'm much happier. So thank you chat support! My issue is finally actually solved but not because of an update or anything someone on the forums had to say. We won't discuss my views on the market place - I am not going to use it so I won't be purchasing any dlc found there.

I'm glad the issue has been resolved. 🙂 Are you aware there is a rather large update coming today? You may want to go offline if you're not ready to update.
