Connect a child/underage account to my account as a family member

My daughter is a big fan of The Sims 4 on Playstation and wants to download The Sims 4 to her PC now that the base game is free. We created a child/underage account for her (since she is still underage in the country where we live), but we soon discovered she needs a code purchased by an adult account. So I created an adult account for myself, using the same email address that we used for myself as parent/guardian when setting up my daughter's child account. However, I could find no way to associate her account with mine. Also, since The Sims 4 is now free, I could find no way to get a code to pass to her so that she could also install/play the game (although I was of course able to download it for my adult account). Is there a way out of this that leads to her being able to play The Sims 4 with her child account?

    Hello all,

As you've noticed, The Sims 4 is now free to play and no longer supplies a code to redeem access for child accounts as of October 18th.

We are currently devising a system for parents to grant this content to a child account in the absence of a product code. In the interim, parents who wish to grant a linked underaged account access to The Sims 4 will need to reach out to an advisor at Help.ea.com or on Twitter at @EAHelp so that we can grant this content manually.

    Thank you for your understanding.

Wanted to put a post back in the forum to talk through the steps (that worked) to get the base game loaded.

    1. Set up a child's EA account, this account can transfer to a teen account once they reach age 13. Link to the parent's email address.
    2. Navigate to EA Help (help.ea.com) and login with the parent account
    3. Go to Sim 4 -> See All Help Articles -> I need Help Loading my Game (here)
    4. Scroll down until you see the widget "Chat with us" where it will indicate a wait time and click in
    5. Once an agent comes online you will have to confirm your name
    6. Note - they do NOT provide redemption codes for Sims 4 so you'll have to proceed in the manner outlined below:
      1. Indicate you have a child's account that you need to have Sims 4, a free game loaded onto
      2. You will need to provide the child's EA Account ID
      3. They will have you confirm that you are a parent of the child, may also need confirmation of the linked email address
      4. They will send you a confirmation email to the parent's email address
      5. Once you provide the code included back to the support representative they will load the game into the profile to have it available to download
    7. Additional note: If you tried to load the game via Steam, you will have to uninstall the Steam version in order for the download to work.

So apparently this issue is still an issue.  I contacted ea support and they were not able to help me.   This is so dumb.   I'm going to have to create an adult account for my kid it seems.

    Hey there Scorpdragon

If you're still having trouble getting the base game added to your child's account, please try submitting a brand new help request to have live support take another look with you- here on the forums we don't have access to your account details and wouldn't be able to get this added.

Live support can verify that you're the owner of the account and make sure the base game has been added to your game library. I'd recommend attaching this forum conversation when you reach back out so live support has additional info to reference on this.

I did that.  And the support person said they had no ability to do it.  More than useless.

I got a new support person, and they figured it out.   I don't know what is with the other previous people, but this one got it done.  Thank you, Karan S!

  • I have tried everything. Live chat simply advises me to age up my 11 years old account and risk her online safety in order to download the sims 4.
Why would they make it impossible for a child's account to have any way to download a free to play game?.
I would happily pay for a code I didn't even realise it was now free to play until I tried to get a copy for my 11 year old.
