Could not locate this item
I don't know what had happened and why it happened. I was adding a lot into Sulani from my gallery, then I made a few changes to the lot. I tried to save the new improved lot into my gallery but it d...
@CharmB789 Can you share the one in your library to the gallery and give me the exact title (call it something like "placement test issue"). Tell me what you named it and if your userID is different there. Please let me know here when you uploaded it to the gallery and I'll test in my game. Also please give some specific issues for me to check for. Thanks!
I can't share it because I can't access it. As soon as I try to click the lot, it immediately says "Could not locate this item". What if I give the tray files instead? Will it still work? The lot is called Sapphire Shores. I don't know any other problems except what I described earlier. Other than saying "Could not locate this item", before I added the lot before slightly editing it, and when I tried to save it by both as new and overwrite, it didn't work. And when I checked again in the gallery, it said "Could not locate this item".
@CharmB789 It may help to clarify so that we're both on the same page for sure... The 'My Library' tab in your game is the lots, rooms and households that are saved into the library in your game. They will also be in the tray folder. https://sherigr.com/tutorials/saving-lot-to-sims-4-library-gallery/ So... when you get the message "Could not locate this item", are you hovering over the thumbnail in your Library or in the game's community Gallery (either in-game or in the browser)?
Sure, if you want to send me the tray files that would be awesome! Please send them to me in a pm at my profile's email.
Sorry. My bad. It was in the My Library section and not the Gallery section. This problem happens in My Library and not in the Gallery since I don't usually share anything. I don't exactly know how to send them in a pm at your email exactly. And I kinda don't know what pm is.
@CharmB789 No worries! You can send pm (private messages, aka dm - direct messages) by clicking your profile pic in the upper right corner, then clicking the black icon of a letter:
That will open your messages/email area for the forum. you can send it there.
TBH, I don't know how to send the tray files to the PM. There doesn't seem to be anything to help me upload them.
@CharmB789 The tray files for the house would need to be found, copied, then zipped together into a folder to share. A few things that may help:
I've already created them as a zip and rar folder but I still can't send it to the pm. I don't know if I'm doing anything wrong.
@CharmB789 I just sent you a pm/dm, so you can just respond to it in your inbox and attach the file...
Sorry but the problem is there is no place for me to attach the zip file. I know this is getting pretty frustrating for both of us. Sorry about that.
@CharmB789 You can't attach files to a PM. Please upload the .zip file to a free filesharing site (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.), and either PM SheriGR the link or post the link in a reply here.
@CharmB789 I apologize! It's been over a year since I've dealt with a file there and forgot that zip files don't attach to the PM. Thank you for catching that, @puzzlezaddict !
I want to upload the files to Google Drive. The problem is I still don't know how to share them which has been really frustrating for me.
@CharmB789 Sign into Google Drive. Drag your .zip file to the browser window, and wait until it uploads. Right-click on the file and select Get Link. Be sure to select the option that "anyone with this link can view." Copy the link, and you can provide it to whoever you want.
@CharmB789 I'm sorry this is so frustrating for you. Hopefully this is the last step for you on getting the file to me. I am adding a link here with decent directions on how to upload your file to a Google Drive, and also directions on how to get a sharable link for that content you uploaded. You can then paste the shareable link to the item in your Google drive into a PM to me in the location we previously discussed:
Edit: Oops... I responded to the post before I saw you had, @puzzlezaddict
I don't know if this link works but let me know what happens.

@CharmB789 We tried adding these tray files and could not get the lot to come up correctly. It appears to be corrupted. Could you please try the following:
Hi, I did the steps below except of having to create a new save and then replace it with my old save. Also, none of my saves has the broken lot. It's only in the library and not in the world.
@CharmB789 Oh. Thank you for letting us know. Unfortunately, if the only copy of the lot is the one in your library that you sent the tray files for, since at least one of the tray files is corrupted in that grouping of files needed to correctly save the lot information to the library, I'm afraid this copy will not be useful to you. You said that the lot was a remodel/reno of another build? Perhaps it you could try downloading the original home and placing it on a different lot and doing renovations that don't include whatever CC you had used on the lot with the issue? It would also be a good idea to check for updates to your CC as they may come out (now or in the future) following the recent game update/patch.
I could go back to the original home but I edited a lot of the home so it would be hard to start over. I only have the one without the CC.
Is there anything that can be done?
@CharmB789 I'm at a loss for any way you can recover the modified lot. Redoing the renovations without using the CC that may have caused the issue is the only way I see. Sorry. You may want to keep a few versions of the renovations saved into the library at different stages of completion until you are sure all has saved well when done and the issue has not re-occurred.
I can figure out other ways to fix these problems of both the broken lot and backing up these files after all. So thanks anyway for all your help.
@CharmB789 You are very welcome. It's unfortunate there was not a fix, but sometimes it's still important to make sure there isn't a fix before going through the work to re-do something! Anyway, I hope the process goes smoothly for you. Happy simming! 🙂
