there's a known issue with the canceling: [MWS] X to end wedding events is invisible/ Getaway icon instead of wedding | EA Forums - 12706972 but you should still see the tasks.
Do you have anything else going on in the game like a scenario or a holiday ?
No scenarios or holidays happening. There are community events as per usual, but no birthdays or holidays.

Are weddings the only event type you have issues with ?
