Does reinstalling your game fix bugs?
Hi,
I'm not sure I'm posting this in the right place, I'm still figuring out the way this forum works, but I want to ask for help. I also posted this in a thread but I'm not sure it will be seen like that so I decided to make a new topic as well.
I have a long list of bugs and it's made my game pretty much unplayable. I was wondering if people have experience with re-installing the game, and / or starting new saves, or using their old saves with a "freshly" installed game, and if it had any positive results? Does it actually fix the bugs? Or is it just gonna be the same?
I'm at the point where playing feels more like im managing / dodging bugs than actually playing the game as it's intended, and it's really frustrating. Especially with the latest mean interactions bug that makes it so that you basically have to micromanage your sim's conversations, because in any unguarded second they will start yelling or insulting each other. It's really not fun, so that's why I'm considering taking the effort of reinstalling The Sims 4 entirely or starting fresh saves or both but I wanted ask around if that would even be worth the effort, or if it doesn't make a difference.
Anyone that has any experience with reinstalling and or starting fresh, please let me know how it worked out for you!
For context:
I play on Mac without mods or CC, packs i have are:
- Seasons,
 - Island Living,
 - Holliday Stuff,
 - Realm of Magic,
 - Dessert Luxe kit.

I'm also considering to buy the Vampire pack or the halloween package deal, but I'm wondering if it is even worth it to invest further into the Sims 4, if it just becomes more and more unplayable. I've also read from people on here that adding more packs equals more bugs popping up, which is the opposite of what I would want. Any advice is welcome!
Bugs i encounter:
- plants resetting into dirt piles
 - no [challenge to duel] interaction option
 - Sim resets after queueing any version of the [Livestream…] action and action disappears
 - sims autonomously do mean interactions for no reason. this happens a lot and results in grudges even though they are otherwise close and have a good relationship
 - wants and fears continue to show even with box turned off in gameplay settings
 - Fears showing up excessively and are impossible to fix. For example: Fear of dead end job shows up after going to work only a couple times, and sticks even after choosing the [regain passion] interaction or getting a promotion
 - Fighting leaves negative sentiments on Neighbourhood brawls Holiday
 - Aspirations don’t count or keep score correctly. For example, you need to earn silver on two social events, the counter shows 0/2 even though the sim earned multiple silver scores and a gold score on party’s that they threw.
 - Appliances breaking excessively
 - Some surfaces (so like tables or accent tables) that have been placed using the bb.moveobjects cheat on disappear after saving or reloading the game

Any advice or experiences with this are very welcome!
Ps. If there is a better place where I should be asking this question, please let me know!
Reinstalling the game can sometimes fix bugs. It's good to check the bug forum first - if there is a confirmed bug in the game that lots of people have, like:
- plants resetting into dirt piles
 - sims autonomously do mean interactions for no reason. this happens a lot and results in grudges even though they are otherwise close and have a good relationship
 - wants and fears continue to show even with box turned off in gameplay settings
 - Fears showing up excessively and are impossible to fix. For example: Fear of dead end job shows up after going to work only a couple times, and sticks even after choosing the [regain passion] interaction or getting a promotion

...then repairing or reinstalling your game is unlikely to fix it. If you have a more niche bug, or one that showed up after a mod install that didn't go away after removing the mod, then yes, try reinstalling.
(Note that the items on your list I didn't copy here may or may not be common bugs; I just don't remember seeing them off the top of my head the way I do the ones I copied.)
