Dog smells cannot bathe it when I put it in the tub

So I just adopted this this pet and its like it's second to third day and one of my sims went out to an adventure with the dog and it came all stinky. I tried to bathe it 5 time the time when it shows the objective is almost done it won't load and my sim keeps cleaning the dog and nothing still stick and it would keep going. I had to cancel it and my per would be stinky like what??
