early access on custom content

The "new" rules that were put out in July regarding mods and custom content. I am confused and reached out, but no one really gave me an answer, so I wanted to reach out on here and ask. Creators are not allowed to permanently charge for their content anymore. They are still allowed to do early access though. But how long are they supposed to keep their content under early access only? Like I go to some patreon pages, and they have custom content locked under a paywall all the way back to the middle of 2021. So, I am trying to figure out what the gray area is. Any help for me to understand these rules better would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance!

    Hey all,

There is no specific timeline for "Early Access" periods available, we review these on a case by case basis.

@EA_Cade I reported mod authors a week ago and they still have mods from months ago behind paywalls.

@ratboy81 I think about a month is the maximum that would be tolerated. And I agree! That's a good amount for the supporters to have exclusive access and enough incentive to support a creator you really like.
  • Does anybody have a clue how long early access mods are being allowed with the new update to the mods policy? All it says is that it's allowed for a "reasonable amount of time" but does that even mean? A week? A month? A year? I want an answer. I've seen multiple mods that have been in early access since before the update.

  • I've seen some CC creators do the same. It's not like they're inactive or what, I've seen them posting new CC and most of them are still not following EA's new policy. For instance, Bergdorfverse and Beckysims are still putting their CCs behind a permanent paywall. I also have tried reporting this to EA by directly filing a report on their website, but their customer service is no help. It has been a few weeks and CC creators like them are still not complying with EA's policy.
