How are they going to fix autonomy?

In the 2026 roadmaps, fixes to autonomy is mentioned numerous times, but not in great detail. I would like to know how the broken autonomy in The Sims 4 is going to be addressed? It's been one of the major core issues with this game since launch.

  • Well so far they added a cooldown to some objects Sims obsess over. Which should help.

But I hope they address Sims' autonomy base on Traits especially Likes/Dislikes (internally likes/dislikes are labeled as traits), preventing Sims doing behaviour they are suppose to dislike (such as Mischief).

At this time Autonomy is based on a Desire Score System (ranging from what I believe is like +11 to -11 depending on the trait). It was a good idea in theory but some Sims who shouldn't by trait and likes/dislikes based are still doing actions autonomously so badly that they are crashing relationships from constantly doing mean or mischievous interactions for example (or just spamming things enough that it is annoying players).

I suggest a whitelist/blacklist system (which is already widely utilized in the code just not for autonomy) for likes/dislikes and applicable traits. To prevent Sims from doing anything against their traits/dislikes autonomously.

I have more suggestions on traits in this thread and this thread on autonomy.

Thank you for this. I am a big supporter of autonomy being based on a sims traits and likes/dislikes. I'd like to see a Whitelist/Blacklist system as well.
