Hi. I'm not sure if anyone else is having this problem but after my sim collects the eggs from the chicken coop, I send him to cook some food with the eggs but the 'eggs' part of the recipe is greyed out and it says that I don't have any eggs either in the fridge or my sim's inventory and I have to sell the eggs before they spoil. Funny thing is, the Golden and Obsidian eggs don't have this problem and I'm not sure if this is a bug. I would appreciate any help I can get on this.
Hi there - haven't heard of this issue before but I have a few ideas that you can maybe try.
Are any of the eggs spoiled? Make sure they are ALL still fresh when you try to use them.
Have you tried putting the eggs into the fridge first, and then trying to make the recipe? Double check the type of eggs the recipe needs and the type of eggs in your sim's inventory. Which recipe(s) does this happen with?
Also, do you have any mods installed? It's possible that that could be the problem, especially if there's a mod that adds a new type of egg into the game.
I'm having the same problem. I have 6 non-spoiled, non-hatchable eggs: 3 normal, 1 orange, 1 blue, 1 obsidian. Got them from my coop in the last day. No matter what I cook, the eggs aren't being used in the recipe. But the other food I have in stock will. I've split the eggs between the fridge and my personal inventory in the hopes at least one of them somewhere will be used, but nothing. I have no mods and don't have the Simple Living trait on the lot. I have all expansions except werewolf, high school and laundry.
Has anyone else experienced this? I was so looking forward to eating the obsidian egg 🙂
Have you ticked the option to always use fresh ingredients?

Yes, the fresh ingredients only option is checked too. All other options for the expansions + aging are enabled.
Sorry for Necroing an old topic, but curious if this was ever resolved? Haven't seen any other info for googling. First time playing with a Ranch and so far none of the colored eggs can be used in cooking.

@JWWeise Please do a "vanilla" test: Drag the Mods folder to the desktop, delete the file called localthumbcache, open the game to test, and exit without saving.
Vanilla test failed, Mods folder on desktop and Localthumbcache deleted. Picture for reference, clicked on Cook with my Sim and Eggroll has Egg greyed out with Golden Egg in the fridge. Then moved Egg to inventory and tried to make Pancakes, egg line greyed out still and she didn't use the egg at all. Its recognizing Milk as she had Milk for the pancakes, but then sold all the milk because Pancakes are Egg or Milk, only item she had was Golden Egg and she never used it, egg was greyed out.
