Empty plates using show hidden objects cheat

Hi there, I’ve been a simmer for quite some time, but I’ve got a bit of an issue. I definitely know how to use the show hidden objects cheat and do quite often. But I go to place plates after finding them in debug and the plates just show up empty. Does that happen to anyone else? Or at I possibly selecting the wrong plates? Any info would be highly appreciated! It’s not an issue with FINDING the objects, it’s just after I place them lol.

@oxemmaruthxo I feel your pain. I went through the same process. If memory serves, this is what I found to be needed when I made food for a themed room I made about a year and a half ago (since the food in it would disappear after upload) and for a bakery I made later. I didn't add the food to the bakery since it was for a challenge and if I added the food it would have raised the price over the budget. There is also a forum where I shared the room and described the process. I will add links to all of that information.

Bottom line, when saving to the library/gallery, to add dishes(food) to a lot you will have to cook them, not get them from debug, if you want the food to remain. Plus you cannot get the food to remain in a room.

    Workaround directions:

Workaround note to get the food from the lots with food: I saved a ‘residence-room’ (in the gallery, called “Soul Cake Christmas Food”) with the food but needed to save the room as a residence. This seems to be the only way to get the food (aside from fruit) to upload and download in the gallery. So… you can download the lot with the food, have one sim move out and buy the lot with the food room put the food in their personal inventory, bulldoze and sell the lot, then have them move back in. Use or refrigerate the food right away, though, or it will go bad. A lot of work for food, but maybe not if you don’t have a sim with the cooking skills.

You're welcome to download my food for part of the dishes you may want, but you'll have to follow the 'workaround' directions

  • @oxemmaruthxo I'm not sure what you're referring to. What kind of plate are you placing? Can you list some specifics, or show screenshots of them? Can you list some specific items, where you're placing them, and what they're doing that you don't expect.

I've found that various items that have food on them in debug almost always no longer have the food once they're saved to the library/gallery and placed in-game. Also after a short time of live play a number of items are 'dirty'/have the green fumes. Plus some just disappear - both food and liquid contents. For that matter, food you make does the same thing (deletes from the plate) if added to the gallery or library in a room, but it can be saved in a lot.

Some examples of exceptions are that as far as I know I still can place the room I uploaded with Ambrosia on a plate in the gallery, my own fruits/veggies, and I think the ones you pay for in debug, plus 'food' like the re-trait potion in debug do not delete when saved to the library/gallery in a room, then placed in-game.

  • So, I've taken a few screenshots of what happens. I wanted to try to build a bakery/market square and wanted to stock it before I did put it on the gallery. I will find a plate, like "the baconing" And I'll try to place a plate of the food, and it'll be an empty plate with no food in it. I didn't know if that's something that would show up AFTER I saved the lot, or what. Screen shot (98) is before I click to place the plate, and Screenshot (99) is after I left click and place the plate. I don't know what's up with that. Any insight would be awesome 🙂

  • This happens before I even try to save the lot or even try to place it in the library. this is still in build mode, if I didn't convey that properly lol. I apologize.

  • Also, new development. Just learned that large servings don't appear, but single servings do. It's strange. I don't know what's going on. Also, very sorry for spamming with replies. I just wanted to be as specific as I can and give details to maybe try to place my problem.
